With the recent N100m intervention fund said to have been given by Gov Dapo Abiodun to each of the 20 local government areas, the Chairmen of the council areas have been urged to utilize this fund transparently accelerate growth and development at the grassroots.
The National President of Ijebu Youth Association, Pastor Okikiola Fayomi disclosed this in statement made available to journalists on Tuesday.
Pastor Fayomi who also doubles as the Auditor of the State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigerian, NYCN said that the local government administrators must with this intervention fund complement the good works of Gov Dapo Abiodun and bring lots of relief to the people at the grassroots.
The youth leader said the council chairmen should know that democracy demands transparency, accountability saying that the LG bosses should therefore prioritize the spending of these funds and to meet the needs of the people at the grassroots and this could be in the area of provision of roads, schools, water, ultramodern markets among others.
Fayomi said "I must sincerely thank Gov Dapo Abiodun for his determination to let our local government roars back to life with the release of N100m intervention fund for each of the 20 local governments
"However, I want to urge the council chairmen to live up to expectations. The money is strictly for the facilitation of projects that will add values to the lives of the people at the grassroots and not to be shared or pocketed
"I thereby plead with these LG chairmen to do all that is within their powers to deploy these resources to projects that will make life more enjoyable for all.
"The youth are also watching and won't stand by idle and watch any of our local government chairmen working at cross purposes to the desire of Gov Abiodun to make life more rewarding for the rural dwelliers".
