A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Irolu Remo in Ikenne local government, Hon Dayo Obadina has said that no amount of politics of bitterness and outright falsehood would deter Gov Dapo Abiodun's second term ambition.
Hon Dayo Obadina, while speaking with journalists at his Ilisan Remo country home on Wednesday disclosed that, there is no denying the fact that Gov Abiodun had performed creditably well in office and should therefore be allowed to continue his selfless leadership beyond 2023.
Obadina who contested the House of Assembly seat of the local government under African Democratic Congress (ADC) in 2019 but had since joined the ruling party, APC said that it was heartwarming to see the governor pursuing excellence in all the critical sectors of the economy.
He explained that "it is not as if those of us calling and supporting the second term bid of Gov Abiodun said that the governor has done everything, no, but he has within the reality of our turbulent economy made a good outing achieving at least 85%. Despite Covid-19 pandemic and the reduction in the allocation from Abuja, we can all see the good works of our governor in education, healthcare agriculture, housing and road construction.
"Just look at the reconstructed Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu expressway that was commissioned by President Buhari in January. Our acces roads are now being attended to. The long neglected Ilisan-Ago Iwoye road is also ongoing likewise market road at Ilisan. The father of them all is the Agro-Cargo Airport at my backyard here which is due for commissioning by December Insha Allah.
"When people say that the governor hasn't given me any political appointment, what I usually tell them is that as long as the governor is embarking on all these meaningful projects, I mean projects that will create wealth for everyone and make life better for all, what other appointment do I want?
So, in a nutshell, Gov Abiodun has done wonderfully well and deserve the support of every one of us so that this good work can continue beyond 2023".
Obadina, who was also one of the Chairmanship aspirants of the local government during last year local government elections has therefore called for further support and cooperation for Gov Abiodun 2023 re-election bid saying that it was one surest way to reward the governor for his diligence and selfless leadership.
