2021 Int'l Youth Day:Adron Homes boss counsels youths on leadership

The Group Managing Director of Adron Homes and Properties, Aare Adetola Emmanuel King has said that Nigerian youths must set their priority right and take more than passing interest in the country's politics if they ever wish to effect any desired change in the leadership
 of the country.

Adetola stated that a situation where the Nigerian youth with their huge population will fail to register for voter's card while the few who registered will also choose to stay away on the election day leaving the business of the day for the elderly ones, after which they will then go and be complaining on social media would always shut them out of governance in the country.

The property merchant who was represented by the Director of Public Affairs, Adron Homes, Barr Kemi Osude stated this at a youth summit held at Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu Ode on Saturday. The youth summit was organised by Ijebu Youth Association (IYA) in commemoration of this  year International Youth Day.

Speaking on the theme "Wither Youth Leadership Amidst Challenges of Good Governance in Nigeria; 2023 in Perspective" Adetola said the Nigerian youths would only have their voice heard when they do away with their apathy to electoral processes and also refused to be instrument of violence in the hands of selfish politicians.

"I also need to say that many of our youths must get their acts right, many are after quick money and so they are into cyber crime fraud, some are into cultism and other vices, the fact that you are a graduate does not mean that you can't take up a vocational training, until we are useful to ourselves, we can't say we want to serve the nation. We must spend our youthful day productively" he explained.

Welcoming the youth to the event, the National President of Ijebu Youth Association, Comr Okikiola Fayomi said that the essence of the youth summit was to continue engaging the youth on  how to improve governance in Nigeria.

Comr Fayomi said that as serious politicking for 2023 elections will soon commence, Nigerian youth with their huge population should team up with people of like-minds with the sole aim of working out a leadership that will address various challenges confronting the country.

Fayomi said since no meaningful progress could be made in a chaotic environment, Nigerian youths must always shun violence and reject any offer from some selfish politicians to heat up the polity and thereby constituting clog in the wheel of progress of the country.

The youth leader lauded Gov Dapo Abiodun for what he termed 'his silent moves' to leave Ogun State far better than he met it pleading with him to however help in giving more jobs to the youth.

Other Speakers at the event included Otunba Jubril Lukan and Mr Lateef Benso, Permanent Secretaries from Ministries of Housing and Forestry respectively.
