Ogun JCI, Rotary rally communities' support for fight against insecurity





Stakeholders at a security seminar organised by Junior Chambers International (JCI) Abeokuta in conjunction with Rotary Club of Abeokuta Hills, held at Oke-Ata, Abeokuta have urged Nigerians to be more security conscious given the challenging time we are in as a nation
Speaking on the theme of the seminar "Collaborative Efforts in Security Sustainability; The Role of Individual and Community", Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Ogun State Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi harped on the need for people to be ready to share vital information on security with the police.

Oyeyemi, who was represented by ASP Oluwole Folashade said "police alone cannot do it, you ( people) must support the security operatives for better result. Good relationship must exist between the security personnel and community members for adequate cooperation in the security sustainability. The need to know our neighbors is also part of measures in community policing so as to know when there is a threat".


Speaking earlier, the President, JCI Abeokuta, Fatoyinbo Omolade said " the 
Development Goal 11 tends to promote sustainable cities and communities also advance JCI Vision which is to connect both the security personnel as well as the Community members together on the need to develop strategy for a secure environment".

He disclosed that Police and You Project focused on Peace, Prosperity and Sustainability, he said the project must served as bedrock between all parties involved in community policing

Other speakers at the event were Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Ogun State, Dr. Samson Kunle Popoola and Southwest PRO, PCRC, Comrade Kunle Sodipo as well as So Safe Corps representatives.

Other dignitaries at the programme were JCIN Amb. Abiola Olorunnisola – 50th President JCI Nigeria, JCIN Amb. Fatoyinbo Omolade – JCI Abeokuta Local Organization President, Rtn. Ogunwoolu Adegoke – Rotary Club of Abeokuta Hills Charter President.
