NUJ President, Isiguzo, 13 others fail again to upturn victory of Soji Amosu-led excos in Ogun

The National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday struck out the stay of execution application brought before it by the National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Comr Chris Isiguzo and 13 others, seeking for the stay of execution of judgement of the same court which affirmed, Comr. Soji Amosu led executive as the lawful leadership of NUJ, Ogun State Council.

It would be recalled that the Industrial Court on February 24,  2021 had among others upheld March 29, 2019 election that brought in Comr Soji Amosu and his other executive members and declaring the Caretaker Committee constituted by the National leadership of the union for the state as illegal and unconstitutional.

At the hearing of the matter on Tuesday, the Counsel to Comr Soji Amosu and his executive members, Mr. Deji Eniseyin submitted to the court to dismiss the application describing it as frivolous and lacking merit.

However, Counsel to the National President and 13 others,  Mr. Bakare seriously begged Justice J. D. Peters not to dismiss his application but allow him to withdraw it.

Bakare pleaded that since he had filed similar application in the Court of Appeal, the lower court should allow him to withdraw the application for the stay of execution before it.

Justice J D Peters of the NICN rather struck out the application, dismissing the plea for withdrawal.
