Abuja High Court affirms Sikirulai Ogundele as Ogun PDP Chairman

....upholds signed agreement brokered by Saraki’s Reconciliation Committee

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday while ruling on leadership tussle rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ogun State has affirmed that Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele remained the authentic Chairman for the party in the state.

The judgement delivered by Justice M. O. Olajuwon was said to have recognized and upheld the terms of settlement brokered by the Dr. Bukola Saraki led National Reconciliation and Strategy Committee of the Party and attested to on the 18th of March, 2021 by the leaders of the contending factions of Hon Ladi Adebutu and Late Sen Buruji Kashamu.

Açcording to the statement made available to journalists by the Media Consultant to Hon Ladi Adebutu, Mr Afolabi Orekoya, on Tuesday, he stated that the terms of settlement agreed upon by both parties which the court was said to have relied on for the judgment was said to have clearly pronounced Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele as the authentic Chairman of the party while other positions in the state Executive Committee of the party should be harmonized by both factions.

It will be recalled that the battle for the leadership of the PDP in Ogun State between the two factions had been on for over six years with hundreds of various litigations over the same subject matter.

It is however believed that this judgement might have put to rest all battles in Ogun PDP and peace will finally be restored in one United PDP.

Reacting to the judgment, Hon Ladi Adebutu while speaking through his Media Consultant, Afolabi Orekoya said "this judgement is restoring the belief in the judiciary in our democratic process, it is a victory for the entire PDP members of Ogun State as there is no looser. The  oneness of PDP in Ogun is strengthened and stronger by the judgement.

Adebutu said further that "this judgement has put to end all concerns and uncertainties as regards the leadership of the party in Ogun State. By extension I congratulate the good people of Ogun State as this judgement has also provided an alternative platform for good governance and a better party to be voted for particularly in the forth coming Local Government elections”.
