As the race for the local government elections hots up in Ogun State, a sociopolitical group, Democracy for Good Governance and Grassroots Development (DGGD) has endorsed the candidature of Alhaja Mujidat Funmilayo Sholola describing her as the most suitable and competent to become the next executive Chairman of Ikenne local government.

The group in a statement signed by its President, Mr Adewale Babatunde has equally called on the governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun to make good his promise to support women participation in politics by throwing her weight behind Alhaja Mujidat Funmilayo Sholola who is the only female Chairmanship aspirant slugging it out with other eight men in the local government.

The group revealed that the governor would have added more beautiful feathers to his cap of monumental achievements and be on the positive side of history by being the governor to allow for the very first time the emergence of a woman as the executive Chairman of Ikenne local government.

The group said "as keen watchers of events and base on the information we have gathered so far across the five towns of the local government; that is Ikenne, Irolu, Iperu, Ilisan and Ogere, Alhaja Mujidat Funmilayo Sholola remained the choice of the people. This is however not coming to us as as a surprise having been a very successful business woman and a great grassroots politician to the core.

"Her love for the people and desire to improve their lot every now and then is also an open secret. We are also of the opinion that since competent women are said to be better managers of resources than men, Gov Abiodun will surely be doing Ikenne local government, which happens to be his local government a lot of good by picking Alhaja Mujidat Sholola who we are quite sure has all it takes to replicate the Governor's good work at the grassroots.

"We sincerely appeal to the governor to please make no mistake about this critical decision. The governor should please shake off all pressure and stand up for excellent grassroots governance with someone like Alhaja Mujidat Sholola at the helms of affairs of Ikenne local government".
