Southern Youth mourn Ogun House of Reps,Onanuga

The Southern Youth Association of Nigeria has expressed its grief and sadness over the demise of the House of Representatives member representing Remo Federal constituency, Hon Mrs Adewunmi Onanuga.

Onanuga, aged 59 and the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives died on Wednesday at a UK hospital after a brief illness.

The youth association disclosed this on Friday in a statement signed by its National President, Pastor Okikiola Fayomi and the Secretary General, Ameachi Chukwuma and made available to journalists.

The youth revealed that the sudden demise of the federal lawmaker had left "their hearts heavy and full of grief as they bid the exceptional leader who dedicated her life to serving humanity a reluctant farewell".

The association said "The Federal lawmaker fondly called Ijaya was a shining example of selfless leadership, compassion, and integrity. 

"Her unwavering commitment to empowering women and girls, as well as her tireless efforts to uplift her community, will forever be etched in our memories.

"As a representative of the Ikene/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, Ijaya demonstrated remarkable leadership and a strong resolve to drive positive change. 

"Her laughter, warmth, and humility drew people to her, making her a beloved friend, mentor, and inspiration to many.

"We honor Ijaya's memory by continuing the work she passionately believed in. We will carry forward her vision, striving to make our communities better, just as she would have wanted. Her legacy will live on in our hearts and in the lives of all she has inspired.

"To her family, friends, and all those mourning her loss, we stand beside you in solidarity and support. May you find comfort in the knowledge that Ijaya's impact will never be forgotten".
