Residents and indigenes of Oriire Local Government Area in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, were on Friday, thrown into mourning when three traditional rulers in the area lost their lives in a road crash.
The accident reportedly occurred at the Arinkinkin area of Ogbomoso when the monarchs were said to be attending the burial ceremony of the mother of another traditional ruler, Oloolo of Oolo, Oba Oyebunmi Ajayi
According to sources privy to the incident, the names of the three deceased Obas from the local government were given as the Olodogbo of Odogbo, Onibowula of Bowula, and Alayetoro of Ayetoro.
They were said to be on their way to the party when the accident occurred following their vehicle ramming into an oncoming truck.
Olodogbo was confirmed to have died on the spot but it’s unclear at what point the other two passed away.
A source at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital Ogbomoso also confirmed the incident, adding that their bodies were deposited in the hospital’s morgue.
It was revealed that the fourth victim who sustained injuries is being attended to in the hospital “but he doesn’t look like an Oba,” the source said.
