The Coordinator, School For Children With Special Needs, Sagamu, Mrs Florence Okunola on Monday pleaded with parents having children with disabilities to allow them to be trained so as to be useful for the themselves and the nation at large.
Mrs Okunola said that because a child has a disability is not the end of the world neither is it a strong reason to write off such child saying that parents should rather be ready to invest in the training of such child to turn their fortune around.
Okunola disclosed this when she led the pupils and teachers of the schools on sensitization to some communities within Sagamu as part of activities to celebrate this year World Disablility Day.
She said "actually, the World Disability Day was yesterday, Sunday but we were not in school being weekends, so we decided to celebrate it today and use the opportunity to raise awareness about the need for parents to be more concerned with the training of their children with disabilities. This is how to turn things around for these children so that they could be useful to the society.
"So, we are out to tell our dear parents not to just hide these children or dump them somewhere, they should support their training, they should bring them to our school which is owned by the government and is free. We should all learn to give our support to these children because there is really ability in disablility
