Hope of an amicable resolution of the leadership impasse in Niger Republic seems to be in sight as Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, the 14th Emir of Kano, met with coup leaders in Niamey, the capital of Niger.
Sanusi’s meeting came after the military junta had cancelled a meeting with representatives from the African Union (AU), Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS), and a prominent US diplomat.
In a footage which surfaced on Wednesday, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi, and leader of the Tijjaniya sect, were sighted in discussions with the Junta leaders.
Reliable sources indicate that Sanusi’s visit aimed to initiate negotiations with the junta
