Ogun 2023: Drama as Showunmi resolves differences with Adebutu on air, pledges to support his governoship ambition

In a sudden turns of event on Thursday evening, Otunba Segun Showunmi while featuring on a Radio programme in Abeokuta, declared that, his feud of many months with Hon Ladipupo Adebutu over the PDP governorship ticket in the state was over.

Otunba Segun Showunmi is currently pursuing his case with Hon Ladipupo Adebutu, the PDP governorship candidate for Ogun State at the Supreme Court.

Showunmi who was also one of the PDP governorship aspirants had prior to the conduct of the primaries urged the court to remove the present executives of the party alleging that they had shown preference for Adebutu after they were caught on tape saying that they were the one who bought the governorship nomination form for the former lawmaker.

The PDP chieftain had considered this behavior of the party executives who also will conduct the party primaries as inappropriate wandering how they could be fair to other aspirants if they had claimed to have allegedly bought the governorship nomination form for Adebutu

The foremost politician had always said that he was waiting patiently for the Supreme Court to give judgement on this matter and had always assured his supporters of the eventual victory.

However, all of this was laid to rest on Thursday when Hon Ladipupo Adebutu called in during the live radio interview programme and urged Showunmi to let the past be in the past and support him in his quest to wrestle the governorship seat from the incumbent, Gov Dapo Abiodun during March 18 governoship elections.

Adebutu said that as much as he believes that Showunmi might truly have reasons to be aggrieved, he should please for the greater good of the people of the state currently bearing the brunt of bad governance of the APC led administration team up with him to be the next governor of the state.

Adebutu who started speaking in English later changed to Yoruba begging Showunmi to please work with him as he was ready to share positions with him and ensure that his interest and that of his group were adequately taken care of.

After listening to the former lawmaker who represented Remo Federal constituency between 2015-2019, Showunmi pledged to discontinue his case at the Supreme Court against his (Adebutu's) governorship candidature and rally support of other members of the PDP across the state to support him in his quest to be the next governor of the state.

Both therefore fixed 3pm on Friday to have lunch and further work out how to bring PDP back to power after 12 years.
