Residents of Abata area in Ifo Local Government area of Ogun State have shown their dissatisfaction over relocation of their polling unit 20, Ward one to somewhere around Eyin Ope which they claimed was allegedly done to disenfranchise them.
Speaking on behalf of the residents, Mr AbduRadaq Oniyangi in a phone call with our Correspondent explained that the residents of the area had voted at the polling unit 20, Abata during the February 25 presidential election and was therefore surprised to find out today that the same polling unit had been move to another place which is very far away.
Mr Oniyangi said "we are interpreting this to mean that those who move the polling unit away without informing the residents are all out to disenfranchise the terming residents. We can't understand why this is happening and that is why we are calling on the appropriate quarters to pls help us.
"It will not be good if we are disenfranchised for no fault of ours. We are all armed with our PVC, we want to vote for candidate of our choice but we are being denied now. We are really not happy at all. What has happened between February 25 and now? Because that's where we voted during the presidential election. Some are even saying that it is one bigwig in one of the parties that orchestrated the move of the polling unit".
