We've opted for out-of-court settlement over Ilisan-Ago Iwoye road-Gov Abiodun

The governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun on Thursday said that his administration has decided to settle out of court the litigation filed by one of the contractors against his predecessor, Sen Ibikunle Amosun over Ilisan-Ago Iwoye road project saying that the road was too crucial to his government to be neglected

Prince Dapo Abiodun explained that reconstruction work would soon start on the road which he said links the state's proposed Agri-Cargo Airport at Ilishan in Ikenne Local Government area with the neighbouring Oyo and Osun States through Ijebu-Igbo, headquarters of Ijebu North Local Government.

The governor disclosed this in Ijebu - Igbo while addressing the people who thronged the venue of the flag off of the Local government election campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ijebu North Local government area of the state

Abiodun used the occasion to assure the people of the state that his administration would continue to execute developmental projects across the state as one of the ways to appreciate their supports for his 2019 governorship ambition which eventually materialized.

He revealed that his administration had carried out more than 272 kilometers of roads within the past two years of its coming on board out of which 63 were executed in Ijebu North Local Government alone, while road construction works are also currently ongoing in 18 of the 20 local government areas of the state.

Emphasizing that the infrastructural projects across the state are to reward their kindness and support for him during the 2019 election, Abiodun however, declared that all the projects executed so far by his administration were chosen by the citizens as their priorities.

"In just two years, this administration has constructed more than 272kilometres of road. We are are working and constructing roads in 18 out of the 20 Local government areas of the state as we speak. The government is a promise keeping government."

While inspecting the Igan road in Ago Iwoye area of the local government, Abiodun said, "In our inclusive approach to governance and to rapid infrastructural development that is determined by those that have elected us into office, this road called Igan road was chosen by the good people of Ago Iwoye for us to rehabilitate or reconstruct for them.

"We don't sit down in Abeokuta and say this road is road we are going go for in Ago Iwoye or in Ijebu North, the people of Ago Iwoye decided that this is the road that is of priority to them, so the Exco approved the reconstruction of this road.

"This road is about 1.75, 1.8km and we also ensured that we awarded the contract to a contractor who is an indigene of this area and that is basically because we want the benefits to trickle down to our immediate neighborhood and ensure that he engages our youths in this corridor as well.

"As you can see some of the drainages have been constructed and some parts of the road have been asphalted. The drainages will be covered which will serve as walkway.

"I must say that this is probably the first time Ago Iwoye is seeing anything like this since the time of baba Osoba. I think Ago Iwoye has not seen any semblance of government in terms of road infrastructural development in the last 16 years".
