The All Progressive Congress (APC) has swept all the 20 chairmanship seats in Saturday’s local government elections in Ogun.
The Chairman of Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) , Mr Babatunde Osibodu, had earlier on Sunday morning announced 17 of the results.
The remaining three results and winners were announced around 2:30pm.
Osibodu added that the total number of votes cast in the chairmanship elections in the 20 local government areas in the state was 396, 641.
"I want to say that APC won all the chairmanship seat in the 20 local government areas in the state, " he said.
He said that results of the elections into all the 236 councillorship positions in the state would be released as soon as they were ready.
The OGSIEC chairman expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the people during the elections , saying that the peaceful conduct made the election a success.
He also appreciated the law enforcement agencies for the role played in the success of the elections, adding that those who won should be magnanimous in victory.
Meanwhile, OGSIEC in a statement late last night has equally said that the certificates of return for the elected Chairmen and Vice Chairmen will be presented today, Monday, July 26 at the Commission’s Headquarters, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, by 10am prompt.
All Chairmen and Vice Chairmen- Elect from the 20 Local Government areas in the state are expected to be seated by 9am prompt while all Covid- 19 protocols would be strictly observed.
The swearing in of the newly elected Chairmen and Vice Chairmen has also been scheduled to hold later today around 1pm at the Arcade Ground, Governor's Office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.
