Network of NGOs hails Akinlesi, Ogun Permanent Secretary's uncommon humanitarian support for Nigerians

This Monday, we celebrate a trailblazer in purpose-driven leadership, public service, and community impact - Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, fondly called - DRA.

With a sound academic background in Agriculture - beginning with a B.Sc. and lateron an M.Sc. from the University of Ilorin and culminating in a Ph.D. from the University of Ibadan, Dr. Akinlesi has established himself as a captain in the agricultural development space. A distinguished member of several professional bodies including the Nigeria Society of Plant Protection (NSPP), the Nigeria Society of Nematologists (NISON), and the Pesticidal Plant Society of Nigeria (PPSN), one time Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs and the Ministry of Forestry, and currently serving as the Permanent Secretary of the Ogun State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Rotimi Akinlesi’s professional journey is being marked by robust expertise and public service in Nigeria's Agricultural sector.

From providing technical support to IFAD-backed projects through AGRIQ, to consulting for the German GIZ on good agricultural practices, to championing Farmer Business Schools in Ogun State, DRA’s expertise cuts across national and global platforms. His impacts have also been felt at the grassroots, notably through his years at the Ogun State Agricultural Development Programme (OGADEP) where he rose through the ranks from Subject Matter Specialist to Deputy Director and Zonal Manager.

A proud Fellow of the International Association of Research Scholars and Fellows (IARSAF/IITA) and co-founder of the @Less Privileged Children Encouragement Initiative (EI) - an organization that has touched the lives of over 100,000 vulnerable children across Nigeria, DRA in his several calls to service is also serving as a Christian minister, film actor, and writer.

DRA is married to Dr. Bukunola Akinlesi, and together they are parents to three wonderful children and proud grandparents to a beautiful granddaughter.

From shaping agricultural policies to nurturing young minds - from the pulpit to leading development conversations towards a better Nigeria - particularly in the area of agriculture(SDG2), Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi is sowing seeds of hope, and harvesting impactful progress already - earning his place as our crush on this week's NNNGO-MCM Publication.
