No country can do well without a vibrant civil service.
If they work well; there will be National Development and if they don't, nations will fail.
Hence, my first charge is to civil servants and secondly to the politicians who treat them unfairly and with disrespect sometimes.
CHARGE TO WORKERS.
As we celebrate workers day today; I charge Nigerian workers to treat every human being and entities whose file appear on their table as their employer..
It has been a major problem in Nigeria that workers treat people who need anything from them like beggars who need their favour but rather it should be service with joy and patriotic attitude.
Hence, I charge the following entities among others to treat people as their employers and reason for the existence of their agency, ministries, or commission .
1. NAFDAC.
2. SON
3. FAN
4. EFCC
5. ICPC
6. FIRS
7. STATE IRS
8. IMMIGRATION
9. CUSTOM SERVICES
10. SPORT COMMISSION
11. CENTRAL BANK
12. FED MORTGAGE BANK.
13. BOI
14. ROAD SAFETY
15. POLICE
16. CIVIL DEFENCE
17. NIGERIAN ARMY, NAVY & AIR FORCE
18. DSS
19. ALL TRAFFIC AUTHORITIES OF STATES.
20. ALL REGULATORY COMMISIONS AND AGENCIES.
21. TOWN PLANNING AUTHORITIES
22. BUREAU OF LANDS AND SURVEY.
23. Government Hospitals.
24. University and Polytechnic workers.
25. Colleges of Education Workers.
26. Technical School worker.
27. Electricity regulators
28. High School and primary school workers.
29. In deed all entities of government both at Federal, state and local government levels.
30. Broadcasting regulators
31. NCC
The least is endless.
Let us imbibe the culture of service by doing some of the followings :
1. Treat file promptly .
2. Get to work at the right time.
3. Face your work when you resume
4. Don't act as if your service is a favour.
5. Let's not make life difficult for investors.
6. Don't delay C of O for years as it is today.
7. Don't delay any approval.
8. Don't create bottlenecks with hidden agenda.
9. Have humanity in your approach to sanctions and understand that any investor we lose today has effect on. job creation and the wealth our nation.
10. Do your work very well and don't shift blame to.politicians.
11. Don't teach politicians how to steal.
12. Protect the Treasury and assets of the country.
13. Make your office clean.
14. Don't join hands to take money for car repairs and get leave the official car untouched thereby making repairs a regular occurrence.
15. Don't write to change furniture that is new and good.
16. Reject bad name of evil servants by your actions.
CHARGE TO POLITICIANS: ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS.
As for the government, let us try and do the following among others.
1. Ensure workers are able to have decent shelter.
2. Decent transport system and car
3. Decent office
4. Decent salaries and wages.
5. Decent treatment.
6. Carry them along.
7. Don't just post unqualified staff to department they have no capacity and training to handle. Round pegs in round hole and square pegs in square holes.
8. Pay gratuity immediately they retire
9. Ensure civil servants are allowed to do regular development
10. Fill vacancies to avoid stress and pressure on hard-working civil servants.
Conclusions.
There is no country without a vibrant and reliable civil servants as they are the engine room of National service and governance, and they drive policies and programmes of the country.
