The Police in Ogun State has arrested, one Inspector Rasheed Adegbite, attached as escort to the Director of Finance and Administration, office of the Governor, Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi, for travelling without permission, Punch has learnt.
Recalled that police inspector was not on duty when the homemade bullion van with registration no X Pilot 13 was attacked, as one of the occupants, Mr Oyekanmi, was shot dead while the driver, Olalekan Akintoye and Peter Samson escaped unhurt.
This is just as the body of the slain Director has also been moved on Thursday morning to Ifonyintedo, his hometown in Ipokia Local Government Area of the state for burial.
Inspector Rasheed was said to have traveled to Igbo-Ora in Oyo State.
The robbers, it was gathered went away with a cash sum of N112,355m belonging to the state government, and no arrest has been made.
The monies were said to have been withdrawn from Fidelity and Sterling banks in Abeokuta.
Meanwhile, Governor Dapo Abiodun, on Thursday said that the killing of Mr Oyekanmi has left his entire cabinet members traumatised and very sad.
Gov Abiodun described the deceased as very diligent, dedicated, God-fearing, humble and very faithful saying that his administration has never been this traumatised as it had been since yesterday afternoon when the sad incident happened.
The governor disclosed this while paying his condolence before going ahead to present the year 2024 budget before the Ogun State House of Assembly.
Abiodun vowed that those that killed Oyekanmi have definitely murdered sleep and would soon be fished out for punishment
He thereafter called for observation of a minute silence in honour of the deceased before he commenced the presentation of the budget , at the Hallowed Chamber of the State House of Assembly.
