Ministerial nomination: Oyo APC Youth Vanguard urges Tinubu to consider Kazeem Raji

The Oyo State APC Youths Vanguard has made a passionate appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider Mr Kazeem Kolawole RAJI from Oyo Central Senatorial District and a former Director, National Youth Mobilisation South West, 2023 APC Presidential Campaign Council as an additional ministerial nominee being a full fledged, loyal and committed Member of the ruling party from Oyo State.

The Group made this known in a Statement issued in Ibadan on Friday and signed by the its Co-ordinator, Comrade Olayiwola Mojeed Agboola and Secretary, Comrade Akeem Babatunde Idowu.

The Group asserted that while it was not challenging the personal choice of President Tinubu on the nomination of Mr Adebayo Adelabu from Oyo South Senatorial District but it crave the indulgence of Mr President to consider the plight of Oyo State APC members who dedicated themselves and worked round the clock to see to the presidential success of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu both at the primary and general elections despite the fact that Oyo State is a PDP controlled state.

The group said "Let us start by commending Mr President for a careful, diligent and painstaking nomination of proven politicians and tested technocrats into his cabinet. No doubt, President Bola Tinubu's capacity in identifying great intellectual and political talents is legendary.

"Great as this may be, however an unhurried examination of the names will reveal the obvious negation of APC Members from Oyo State. Of course, the appointment of Ministers or any National appointment of sort is at the perogative of Mr President and we also affirm that this is not a deliberate measure by Mr President to put Oyo State APC at disadvantage”.

The statement went further that the only ministerial nominee from the state is a card carrying member of Accord Party and as such cannot project and protect the interests of APC Members in the state effectively.

"It is instructive to state here that the only Ministerial nominee from Oyo State is not only a card carrying member of Accord Party but its gubernatorial candidate in the last general election. While we cannot question Mr President's discretion in nominating him into his cabinet, we wish to appeal to Mr President for a consideration of another nominee from Oyo State who shall be of APC Creed", the group said further.

The youth submitted that the person of Engineer Kazeem Kolawole Raji is the most suited for the appointment. It would be recalled that Raji, an accomplished Telecoms, ICT and Digital Economy expert with over 25 years cognate experience in both private and public sector coordinated Oyo State delegates for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at APC presidential primary at Eagle Square where Oyo State returned 85 delegates votes out of 99 delegates for Mr President.

"To us in Oyo State Youths Vanguard, we found the person and personality of Engr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji as most appropriate for an additional Ministerial slot for Oyo State being an outstanding technocrat and a professional in politics who has been a progressive politician in SDP, AD, AC, ACN and now APC.

"Apart from being an expert in his chosen Telecommunications and Information Technology career, his sense of commitment and loyalty to the cause of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is exceptional.

"Raji was the APC-PCC Director of National Youth Mobilization, South West in the last Presidential Election and the only PCC Director from Oyo State. He was also a Senatorial aspirant for Oyo Central Senatorial District in the 2023 APC Primaries.

Raji Kazeem has also led many support groups in the actualization of Tinubu's presidential ambition, prominent among them is the Grand Alliance For Tinubu-Shettima 2023, the group that championed the leg work for pacification of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and other Christian organisations who were against the same faith ticket of the APC."

The group concluded that "if many states with less strategic contributions to the APC can get two to three ministerial slots, we are also optimistic that Mr President will graciously accede to our request for one additional ministerial slot for Oyo State APC Members.

"We have a premium quantum of optimism that Mr President will grant this request of ours being a listening father and given the strategic position of Oyo State in the country".
