Ijebu Youth lauds Abiodun on palliatives, begs him not forget the youths

The National leadership of Ijebu Youth Association (IYA) has lauded the governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun for series of steps he has promised to take to cushion the biting effect of subsidy removal from the petrol as announced by the federal government.

It would be recalled that Gov Abiodun had on Monday night rolled out measures that were primarily designed to mitigate the effects of the subsidy removal on the workers and residents of the state. 

The governor had promised to pay the workers and pensioners N10,000 for the next three months, roll out buses, tricycles and motorcycles that will be using gas and  will of course be charging fares that were same as before the subsidy removal, reduce number of days workers will come to work, distribute food items majorly rice, beans, garri, maize among others.

In a statement issued by the National President of the association, Comr. Okikiola Fayomi and made available to journalists on Wednesday, the association lauded Gov Abiodun for his readiness at all times to always see how he could make meaningful difference in the life of the people.

Fayomi in the statement disclosed that "there is no denying the fact that the subsidy removal as good as it is has come with its burden leading to increase in prices of goods, transportation and the likes but the good thing is that in the long run, the gains will outweigh the pains because there will be enough resources to be deployed towards fixing our infrastructure, healthcare, education among others. 

"However, it is also good government tries to see what could be done to reduce this burden to be borne by the people and that was what made Gov Abiodun to make the announcement of the available palliatives for the workers, pensioners and other residents of the state on Monday. 

"It is on this note that we are calling on Gov Abiodun to specially make provision for the youths. We are among the largest percentage of the population that is hit by this subsidy removal. Most of us are either in schools or learning work, many of us are without jobs, we sincerely beg Gov Abiodun to ensure that the youths in the state are properly taken care of when the implementation of these palliatives begin".
