Dr Tunde Diya, son of the late former Military Administrator of Ogun State, Chief of Defence Staff and former Vice President during the military era, Gen Oladipo Diya, has called for concerted efforts to develop the health sector.
Dr Tunde Diya disclosed that given the crucial roles the critical sector plays in human existence and survival, no effort should be spared to join forces with government to improve on access to quality health care for Nigerians.
The Odogbolu born APC stalwart made this call recently on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of Dr Tunde Diya Foundation (DTDF) during when consumables and wheel chairs, Balloon Catheters, Automated Blood Pressure Machines, Hepatitis B Testing Kits, Malaria Testing Kits and many others were distributed to all the health centres in the local government.
Babatunde Diya said that there was no doubt that both the federal government and Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration in Ogun State are demonstrating so much commitment to provide qualitative healthcare for the people urging public spirited individual and corporate organisations to also lend their support to fill the yawning gap saying that no intervention should be considered too little.
He explained that the foundation came into being three years ago to provide succour for the people across the 15 wards of the local government and that the NGO had in the past carried out various intervention programmes such as free medical outreach, distribution of food items to the people, skills acquisition training among others.
The Medical Doctor said that his concern was to build on legacy of selfless service and foremost leadership associated with the name "Diya" in the country.
He said "I am only trying to contribute my quota to making life more rewarding for my people, that was what led to the birth of the NGO, that is, Dr Tunde Diya Foundation (DTDF) three years ago. It is specifically to complement the efforts of the government, we all know that the government can't do all, so, as individual and corporate organisations, we can make our impact felt as well, we really can be our brothers' keepers.
"We have in the last three years remain truthful to this vision supporting our people in the area of health, environmental sanitation, education, skills acquisition among others. It is on this note that we are donating loads of consumables to the health centres across Odogbolu Local Government.
"We believe that these materials will enhance quality health care delivery for our people and we certainly hope to do more in support of the fantastic job we have witnessed under Gov Dapo Abiodun and our newly inaugurated President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu whom we so much believe has all it takes to make Nigeria the envy of the whole world".
