Notorious ritualist offers Ogun police N1M bribe to evade arrest


The Ogun state Police Command said it has arrested 35-yr-old Ifasoji Ayangbesan, a member of a notorious ritualist syndicate, who killed and dismembered the body of one Oyindamola Adeyemi at Ijebu Ode on the 28th of January of this year

According to statement from the Spokesman of the state police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, made available to journalists on Sunday, the alleged notorious serial killer was said to have allegedly offered one million naira bribe to the police to evade arrest.

He was said to have been arrested last week Friday at his hideout in Ijebu Ode.

The police explained that Ifasoji Ayangbesan whose other members of his gang had earlier been arrested was apprehended following  painstaking intelligence based investigation embarked upon by detectives from Obalende divisional headquarters, which led them to his hideout at Ijade Iloti area of Ijebu Ode. 

The suspect was said to have been indicted by other members of the ritualist squad earlier arrested saying that he was the person who bought the two legs of the dismembered Oyindamola Adeyemi.

He was however said to have taken to heels immediately he heard that those arrested had mentioned his name as being part of the deadly gang.

The police disclosed further the DPO Obalende division, SP Murphy Salami, had since been on the trail of this wanted serial killer. 

Salami was said to have  detailed his detectives to be on the trail of Ayangbesan with a view to arrest him and possibly recover the the victim's two legs with him and of course prosecute him and his colleagues in crime .

Luck was however said to have ran against him when he was apprehended at his Ijade Iloti hideout on the 28th of April 2023.

Immediately he was arrested, Ifasoji Ayangbesan was alleged to have made an offer of one million naira bribe to the policemen, which was rejected. 

On interrogation, he was said confessed being part of the syndicate that killed Oyindamola Adeyemi, and that he was the person who severed the two legs of the deceased which he claimed he used for ritual purpose. 

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Yomi Oladimeji who commended his men for their uprightness has directed that the suspect be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Departments in order to prosecute him with other members of his syndicate.
