The Ago Iwoye Patriots, a socio-political organisation has donated sum of N5m for the re-election bid of Hon Abdelmajid Adesegun Adekoya popularly called Attacker who is also an indigene of the town
Hon Abdelmajid Adesegun Adekoya, the Deputy Minority Chief Whip representing Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside federal constituency at the House of Representatives is currently seeking a third term in the forthcoming February 25 presidential election.
The group said it was overwhelmed by the genuineness of the federal lawmaker to serve given the avalanche of projects he has facilitated to not only Ago Iwoye, his birthplace but across the federal constituency.
Speaking during the handing over of the N5m cheque to the lawmaker held at the ongoing Ago Iwoye City stadium facilitated by the same lawmaker, the Chairman of the fund raising project, Prince Olufunmilayo Kayode Sipe declared that the group came up with the support to ensure that the good works under the federal lawmaker continued beyond 2023.
Prince Sipe said "actually this association was just inaugurated this year January 3rd and it is established to promote and support good governance. And it is so clear that our dear son, Hon Abdelmajid Adesegun Adekoya popularly called Attacker has done so well as the federal lawmaker representing us at Abuja.
"He has facilitated several projects that bear relevance to our needs in Ago Iwoye and other parts of the federal constituency like roads, skills and vocational training, the almost completed Ago Iwoye City Stadium, federal health institution that deals with infertility.
"He has built mosque, church, granted scholarship to several students, distributed several empowerment tools. He has shown rare genuineness to serve and we thought that whatever we too have should be harnessed to support him, and that was how 88 people out of 145 members of this association contributed this little amount to support him for another term so that he can do much better. In addition to this, we are also doing our grassroots campaign to ensure that his re-election is a resounding success".
The former PDP Chairman in Ogun State, Engr Bayo Dayo, while speaking at the programme lauded the group for being this thoughtful and deeming it right to support one of their own and his party candidate for Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside federal constituency in the forthcoming elections.
Engr Bayo Dayo described Hon Abdelmajid Adesegun Adekoya as a very rare politician with a caring heart for service maintaining that the lawmaker really deserve another term in office because he had always judiciously use the opportunity given him to serve.
Receiving the N5m cheque from the group, Hon Adekoya who was overwhelmed by the kind gesture disclosed that the development was noble and historical such that he would never forget for the rest of his life.
Attacker, as he is fondly called explained that he would forever treasure the love and sacrifices of members of the group and that their show of uncommon love and support would surely ginger him to do more if he is re-elected into the green chamber come February 25, 2023.
