Armstrong FC of Iperu-Remo has defeated Endot FC of Sagamu 1-0 to win the 2022 Akesan Day Football Competition, which is one of the activities lined up to mark the annual Akesan Day celebration.
The only goal of the final match was scored by Ayuba, the captain of the team.
Dignitaries who graced the highly pulsating encounter included Alaperu of Iperu, Oba Idowu Basibo, Chief Gbadebo the Oloritun of Agbesa, the Deputy Chairman Akesan Day Celebration Committee, Mr. Oluomo Jamiu Talabi, the Chairman, Akesan Day Sport Committee, Mr. Yemi Adeitan among others. No fewer than 16 teams participated in the competition.
The organiser said the competition was organised to promote unity, harmony, and peaceful coexistence among youths in Remo land.
Our correspondent gathered that the final match was supported by Bet9ja agents in Iperu Remo within the framework of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Speaking on the achievement of the winning team, the property merchant and philanthropist, Mr. Armstrong Akintunde commended the team for winning the game and dedicated the trophy to the governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
According to him, "Our victory is for our hardworking Governor who has remained committed to making life more rewarding for all of us in the state since assuming office in the last three and half years.
"Gov Abiodun is a champion by all standard as we can see with his sterling performance across all the sectors. He has remain a shining light and proud son of Iperu, Akesan using his brand of politics to put smiles on the faces of all of us in the state
"It is the more reason we are working round the clock, mobilising across the length and breadth of the state because the governor must continue his good works beyond 2023, it is often said that a very good term deserves another. So, all the youths in the state must rally support for the success of the governor's re-election come 2023".
