Ago Iwoye: Kaka, ACDC acting Chairman gives stewardship

Barely two weeks to the celebration of annual Ago Iwoye Day, the acting Chairman of Ago Iwoye Central Development Council (ACDC) Engr. Segun Kaka has said that he had remained committed to pursuing efforts that will enhance the socio-economic development of the ancient town since his appointment.

Engr Segun Kaka in a statement made available to journalists at Abeokuta, the state capital on Friday disclosed that his first priority after coming on board the leadership of the association was to ensure transparency in its the finance.

Kaka who is eyeing the assembly seat of Ijebu North State constituency II comprising of Ago Iwoye, Oru Awa and Ilaporu under the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the forthcoming elections next year said he had ensured that there are now more than three signatories to sign all financial request for the association.


The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) trained engineer said the mandate to ensure sanity and transparency in the handling of the resources of the community was the first assignment he pursued after being called upon to serve the university community.

He said another milestone achievement under his leadership is the readiness of the state government to take over Ago Iwoye Community Hospital so that it can be more functional and help provide for the medical needs of the residents of the town.

He said that the decision to turn over the hospital to the government was taken after due consultations with some stakeholders and eminent leaders of the town.

Kaka said that the taking over of the hospital by the state government will make it enjoy proper funding, staffing and of course improve on its health services to the community.

He said that the pitiable condition of health centre at Oke-Odo had also been reported to the appropriate quarters with government promising to help with the rehabilitation.

Kaka explained that "we have also sent our correspondence to the state government specifically the ministry to rural development for the rehabilitation of some of our five major rural roads, most especially, the Mamu market access road and which the government will be coming on Monday on the 26th Sept,2022 to inspect after which action plan will be decided immediately".

He disclosed further that "the committee of ACDC under my auspices have equally embarked on construction of Oba Abdul Rasak Adesina Adenugba shopping complex to complement the Ago Iwoye City Stadium with 20 units lockup shops and a 3 units mini Guest house ensuite with a canteen facility by side as the first phase of the project

"Our mission is to invest the proceeds of Ago-Iwoye Day celebration coming up to have a second phase of another 10 units ensuite short rest room, with all standard facilities including a microcredit finance bank in partnership with OOU Microfinance Bank to improve access to capital and boost grassroots economy, this of course, will be in form of revolving loans".

 
Kaka said as a way of boosting the security of the town hosting the first state owned university, Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) his leadership also has intention to install 20 units night capturing cameras in the cosmopolitan and boundary areas of the town.

 He revealed that "we also have the plan of maintaining the solar street light facilities ably facilitated by the son of the soil, Prince Sofowora, Hon Abdel Majid Adekoya currently representing Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside federal constituency at the House of Representatives as well as my humble self, Prince Segun kaka".

He said it is also the wish of his leadership to buy more whistles for the residents of the community and this he said they could always blow to raise alarm whenever they see something strange.
