Ojude Oba 2022: Ijebu youth rejoice with Muslims, rally support for development


The national leadership of Ijebu Youth Association (IYA) has sent their greetings to the Muslims across Ijebu land and Ogun State as whole over the celebration of this year Eid-el-kabir.

The youth group has also rejoiced with all sons and daughters of Ijebu land over the return of the annual celebration of Ijebu rich cultural heritage termed Ojude Oba festival after being suspended for two years due to Covid-19 pandemic.

The National President of the group, Comr Okikiola Fayomi in a statement made available to journalists congratulated the Muslims for the grace given to witness the celebration of this year Eid-el-kabir.
He urged them to use opportunity of this year celebration to pray for the continued progress, prosperity and peaceful coexistence in the country.

While rejoicing with all sons and daughters of Ijebu land over the return of the Ojude Oba festival which comes up on Monday, July 11, Okikiola said that beyond merry making and display of opulence and exotic fabrics, people should also use this platform of festival to rally for further development of the entire land.

The youth leader said "while we are nonetheless grateful to many great sons and daughters of Ijebu land doing one thing or the other to expand the frontiers of our economic prosperity and provide jobs for the teeming youths, we are of the strong opinion that it can still get better.

"It is on this note that we are calling on many sons and daughters of our blessed land to do more in terms of facilitating further development across our communities. We need to do a lot more in establishment of enterprises that will help empower our youths, beat down the crime rate and poverty level too".
