The campaign office of the APC candidate for Ijebu Central Federal Constituency, Barrister Femi Ogunbanwo fondly referred to as OMO-IWA has described report circulating on social media that the APC Ijebu Central Constituency delegates had vowed to work against him over failure to attend to them after primaries as unfounded and mischievous.
In a statement issued by the media team of the campaign office and signed by Comrade Musa Hameed, the office debunked allegation of oath-taking leveled against the highly respected APC candidate who was freely voted for by the majority of the party people as a result of his humble relationship with people and commitment to their well being.
The statement said that the generality of the people believed that OMO-IWA could be trusted with their political destinies.
The campaign office disclosed further that" Barr. Ogunbanwo who is widely acknowledged to be an OMOLUWABI is a Minister in the House of God and Deputy Chancellor of the Anglican Diocese. He would never subscribe to an oath-taking for votes when he firmly believes that power belongs to God and it is Him that crowns whomever He pleases".
The statement said "as an Omoluwabi that Barr. Ogunbanwo is, OMO-IWA is widely acknowledge to be a promise keeper was among the first few candidates to show appreciation to the delegates and party faithful after his victory at the primary election.
"It is on record that on the 31st of May, 2022, OMO-IWA hosted all the delegates, party leaders and ward chairmen to a Thank You Lunch at his campaign office where he was joined by his friend and former colleague, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, the immediate past Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs who equally won the party ticket for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.
"Both of them later visited the Awujule of Ijebu land, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona on that day to receive royal blessings from the paramount ruler.
The statement further stated that since his election, OMO-IWA had visited and called on all other aspirants in the primary election to join forces with him in the quest to make life much more better for the people of the Ijebu federal constituency. Plans were also said to have been concluded to visit the 36 wards in the Federal Constituency to thank all party members and make necessary reconciliation with all the party members towards ensuring the victory of all the party candidates in the coming general election.
The campaign office said some online platforms such as Watch Concept had published the report of the event on the 1st of June, 2022 with pictures showing the get-together party organised by Barr. Olufemi Ogunbanwo for all delegates with Hon Afolabi Afuape in attendance.
