Hon Kehinde Bello on Monday picked the PDP House of Representatives ticket of Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside federal constituency ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Hon Kehinde Bello reportedly polled 58 votes to beat other four aspirants including the incumbent lawmaker representing the federal constituency, Hon Abdulmajid Adesegun Adekoya, the Deputy Minority Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Abuja.
Bello, won the party’s ticket in a keenly contested primary election held at Muslim Hall, Ijebu Imushin, Ijebu East Local Government Area.
According to the results of the primaries announced and signed by the Returning Officer, Ashiru Tunde, Kehinde Bello polled 58 votes, Tele Ogunjobi polled 38 votes; Sunday Adegbesan got 2 votes; Adesegun Adekoya had 1 vote while Adeyemi Duduyemi recorded no vote.
The primary election scheduled for Sunday was however held on Monday due to logistics challenges, including late arrival of electoral materials and officials.
Hon Adesegun Adekoya, who has been representing the federal constituency since 2015, was said to have stayed away from the venue of the party’s primary election.
Speaking after being declared winner of the primary election, Kenny Bello as he is fondly called was full of appreciation to all the party faithfuls and leaders for standing by him to cross the first hurdle of picking the party's ticket.
He promised never to make them regret of the confidence reposed in him urging them to give him more support to win the federal constituency seat for the party during 2023 general elections.
