The Ifelodun Community Association cassava value chain project done in partnership with Ogun State government which was flagged off in January at Oke Arowa vilage via Ago Iwoye is already taking shape and showing potential of a huge success.
The communal farming project with support of Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Youth and Sports has the residents of Ago Iwoye, Oru Ijebu, Awa and Ilaporu as major beneficiaries.
Engr Segun Kaka, the brain behind the project in a chat with newsmen on Saturday revealed that the first phase of the cassava value chain project which is targeting to empower at least100 rural farmers is already showing great signs of success.
Engr Segun Kaka explained that " for instance, we have just finished planting cassava on the 50 hectares allotted for the first phase of this project. We have also dug borehole for the villagers because our intention is to make this locality hub of cassava value chain and therefore all the infrastructure that will aid qualitative living and make lives more comfortable for the people such as good roads, conducive environment for learning among others will also be provided.
"This project is actually a fallout of the giant strides of Gov Dapo Abiodun in agricbusiness who has always insisted that time is now for our farmers to enjoy good proceeds from their farming endeavours. So we really want to thank the governor for the support and we urge our people to embrace this opportunity with their both hands".
Kaka who is aspiring to represent the people of Ijebu North constituency II comprising of Ago Iwoye, Oru Ijebu, Awa and Ilaporu at the House of Assembly in 2023 has therefore urged the people to redouble their efforts towards making the second term bid of Gov Abiodun a success saying that this is one good way to reciprocate the commitment and love of the governor for the rural dwellers.
