Eight month-old child falls, dies as clergy man leads two other women to assault wife



Men of Ogun state police command said they have arrested one Pastor Isaac Akinbola aged 50 and two other women; Esther Olowolayemo aged 29 and 30-yr old Oluwakemi Oshinbajo at Ipinle area of Mamu Ijebu, in Ijebu North local government area of the state for assaulting the Pastor's wife during when an eigth months old baby, Obadiah Akinbola fell and died.

Pastor Akinbola reportedly led the two other women to assault his estranged wife, Dasola who was said to have allegedly been accusing his Pastor husband of sleeping with the church members including the said two women.

According to statement from the Spokesman of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects were arrested on the 27th of March 2022, following a report lodged at Awa Ijebu divisional headquarters by the Pastor's wife, Dasola Akinbola.

Dasola was said to have informed the police that she had been having disagreement with her husband over his illicit affair with some female members of the church for sometime now, and that the said husband came to her house at Ipinle area of Mamu ijebu with two women, whom she had been suspecting of having illicit affair with her husband to beat her up.

Dasola claimed further that while the two women brought by her husband were beating her, her eight months old baby, Obadiah Akinbola, fell down while her husband was urging the two women to beat her thoroughly.

Upon the report, the DPO Awa Ijebu division, CSP Adewalehinmi Joshua was said to have ordered the arrest of the three suspects, while the woman and her baby were taken to Mamu ijebu health center for medical care .

The woman and the baby were later referred to Blessed Hospital, Oru ijebu where it was discovered that the baby had internal injury when he fell down from his mother hands during the scuffle.

Obadiah was said to have given up the ghost on the 28th of March 2022 while receiving treatment as a result of the internal injury.

The remains of the child was said to have been deposited at the General Hospital, Ijebu Igbo mortuary for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation with the view of arraigning them in court as soon as investigation is concluded.
