A 27-yr old suspected cultist, Ibrahim Sikiru has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for macheting his biological father, Ibrahim Mumuni to death at Onipanu, Ota in Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of the state.
Sakiru was said to have been angered by the effrontery of his father to wake him up from sleep when he (his father) came back from night guard work that fateful day.
This was according to the statement from the Spokesman of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi on Saturday
Sakiru was said to have been arrested on Wednesday, March 30 following a complaint lodged at Onipanu divisional headquarters by one Abiodun Sunday a neighbour to the deceased, who reported the ugly incident to the police.
He said the deceased, Mumuni Ibrahim, a night guard came home and met his son who was still sleeping, and when he questioned him for the reason why he was still sleeping at that time of the day, the suspect got annoyed and brought out cutlass with which he matceted the victim in five different places.
Upon the report, the DPO Onipanu division, CSP Bamidele Job was said to have quickly mobilized his men and moved to the scene where the suspect was arrested and victim rushed to General Hospital, Ota for treatment.
Sakiru who is strongly suspected to be a cultist was said to have gotten no reasonable explanation for his action when interrogated.
However, on the 31st of March 2022, his father was said to have gave up the ghost while receiving treatment at the hospital with the family insisting burying him according to the dictate of his religion.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
