Ogun police arrest woman with bundle of N1000 fake currency notes

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command say they have arrested  a 30- year- old woman, Bola Agbedimu, over the possession and spending of fake N1000 notes at Kila Market, Odeda Local Government Area of the state.

Crime report from the command indicated that she was nabbed on the 14th February 2022.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Odeda divisional headquarters by the chairperson of Egbalawa Crops/fruits Association, that the suspect was caught spending fake one thousand naira currency note in the market.

Acting on the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Odeda, CSP Femi Olabode detailed  detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.

He said, “On searching her bag, a sum of N24,000 fake currency notes was discovered.”

He added that the suspect confessed that she’s been an habitual counterfeit naira note dealer and her mode of operation is mixing the counterfeit notes with genuine ones and used it to purchase goods.

Oyeyemi further stated that preliminary investigation revealed that, she has been arrested on many occasions at different markets within Abeokuta for the same crime.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
