The kinsmen of the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo from all the 35 wards of Remo federal constituency on Wednesday held rally across Sagamu calling on him to declare interest to run for 2023 presidential election.
The group under the auspices of PYO 2023 for President is led by former Chairman of Remo North local government and erstwhile Chairman of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) in Ogun State, Hon John Obafemi.
The group in their hundreds who came from the three local governments of Ikenne, Remo North and Sagamu and adorned with T shirts with inscription of "PYO 2023 for President" marched through the major streets of Sagamu with placards bearing several messages calling on Prof Osinbajo to declare interest for 2023 presidential aspiration.
The group later terminated its sensitisation rally at the palace of Akarigbo of Remo, where its leader, Hon John Obafemi presented the letter said to have been written by Remo indigines asking Prof Yemi Osinbajo to run for 2023 presidential election to Oba Babatunde Ajayi for onward delivery to the Vice President.
Hon Obafemi while presenting the letter to the Paramount ruler declared that Remo sons and daughters both at home and abroad considered Osinbajo, a proud indigine of Remo from Ikenne local government, an erudite scholar, an highly successful lawyer and a pragmatic politician as very fit to take over from President Buhari next year May.
He said "it is glaring to all that Prof Yemi Osinbajo is a gift from God. He is naturally endowed with wisdom from above. He has always been a star shining from his secondary school days at Igbobi College. His impressive records as eight years Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos is there for all testifying that he is one of the rare gifted world leaders.
"And as Vice President, he has supported President Buhari to move the country forward. It is the strong opinion and desire of the people of Remo land to have our proud son, Prof Yemi Osinbajo as the next president of the country. We have the assurance that with someone so gifted like him at the helms of affairs things will surely be much better.
"We have therefore come unto you as our father in Remo land to present this letter to you which is written by sons and daughters of Remo land asking Prof Yemi Osinbajo to as a matter of urgency declare interest to run for the presidential seat in 2023. We plead with you Kabiyesi to help us ensure that this letter get to your son in Abuja".
Hon Obafemi thereafter prostrated and presented the letter to the royal father, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi.
Receiving the letter, Oba Babatunde Ajayi promised to get the letter across to the Vice President. He went further to describe Prof Osinbajo as very intelligent and who knew what he was doing assuring that Remo Traditional Council would ensure that the message of his kinsmen get to him.
Other notable APC chieftains at the rally included, Aare Jimi Olatunji, Otunba Fatai Sowemimo, former lawmaker representing Remo North State constituency, Pastor Kolade Segun Okeowo, Asojuoba Michael Adesanya, Hon Erinfolami Onajole, Mr. Deji Solaja, Otunba Korede Okusanya, Aare Jimi Olatunji, Alh. Lamidi Odulawa, Arc. Abiodun Adesanya, Mrs Josephine Makanjuola, Evang. Kolade Segun-Okeowo and Hon. Kunle Adesanya to mention but few.
