Ogun police arrest three for vandalising MTN mast, steal N3m battery


Men of Ogun state police command have arrested three men for vandalizing and stealing from the mast of a telecommunications company (MTN) located around Atan Ota in Ado-Odo Ota local government area of the state.

Those arrested according to statement from the Spokesman of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi are , Kabiru Olusola age 27, Taye Daniel 43, and Afeez Balogun 47.

They were said to have been arrested on Friday, January 28 around 6am following a distress call received by policemen attached to Atan Ota Divisional headquarters, from one Shuaib Muhammed, the chief security officer of the company in charge of the mast, that some hoodlums numbering about six have invaded the said MTN mast, situated at Ketu along Agbara expressway. 

Upon this distress call, the DPO Atan Ota Division was said to have quickly dispatched his patrol team to the scene where the three suspects were apprehended while others escaped. 

Recovered from the suspects were said to be seven Backup batteries valued at 3 million naira, rectifier module as well as their operational vehicle with registration number AAA 779 XL.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole has ordered a comprehensive investigation of the case with the view to charge the suspects to court as soon as possible. 

He also directed that the escaped members of the gang be hunted and brought to justice.
