Ogun PDP members under the factional leadership of Alhaji Semiu Shobayo have affirmed their unalloyed support for the desire of former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to rule the country come 2023
The party equally announced their rock solid support for the governorship ambition of Mr Segun Showunmi, the Spokesman of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar 2019 Presidential Campaign.
Alhaji Semiu Shobayo made this disclosure on Wednesday while speaking at a stakeholder meeting of the members of the party from Ogun Central senatorial district held at the Imperial Hotel, Quarry Road, Abeokuta.
At the meeting were all the local government party chairmen, Southwest Zonal Treasurer, Hon Samson Ogunse, Gbenga Idowu, Southwest Ex-officio, Barr Monsuru Ola Kukoyi, Southwest Zonal Legal Adviser among others.
Alhaji Shobayo described Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as well as Mr Segun Showunmi as two of a kind who have what it takes deliver Nigerians from the oppressive government of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said Showunmi who is the brain behind the PDP stakeholders meeting is more than capable to return smiles to the faces of Ogun residents saying that the party will in 2023 go all the way to ensure that he (Showunmi) takes over from the current APC administration in the state.
Shobayo said that the party rejected in its entirety the idea of Hon Ladipupo Adebutu staying in one corner of his room and deciding fate of teeming members of the party.
He said era of a time when the party is being pocketed by one person while every other party members is treated as slaves are over saying that his leadership of the party is the one recognised by the new national leadership of the party under Dr Iyorcha Ayu.
Shobayo called on other members of the party elsewhere in Ogun State to come under his leadership as his leadership remained the one recognised by national leaders of the party.
Speaking at the event, Segun Showunmi said that time for an individual to stay somewhere and be deciding the robust future of the opposition party in the state has gone for good saying that the leadership of Alhaji Semiu Shobayo would bring back the winning streaks of the party.
Showunmi urged the party members to go back home and begin to propagate the gospel to rescue Nigeria from its current comatose state through the leadership of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar come 2023
He said the PDP is on rescue mission come 2023 and would leave no stone unturned to ensure that it returns to power both at the federal and state level.
Showunmi declared that he was also ready and have all it takes to return the party to power in the state come 2023 asking the people to support his gubernatorial ambition.
