Updates: Five persons, five vehicles burnt in Lagos-Ibadan tanker crash


Five persons were reportedly burnt beyond recognition on Wednesday early morning crash around Lagos-Ibadan,Tunji Alegi filling station, Kwakyama area of Ogere when a petrol laden tanker collided with an Ibadan bound truck.

Five vehicles were also reportedly burnt in the inferno that resulted from the crash.

The five victims were said to have been recovered from one of the crashed trucks and their remains deposited at FOS Morgue Ipara Remo.

Given updates on the accident, Ogun State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ahmed Umar in a statement signed by Superintendent Route Commander, Florence Okpe,  disclosed that the suspected causes of the multiple crash were wrongful overtaking and dangerous driving on the part of the petrol tanker leading to head on collusion with Ibadan bound truck.

He said vehicles are now making use of RCC work area and alternative routes via iperu. Ogun State.
