Five vehicles burnt as petrol tanker guts fire on Lagos-Ibadan expressway


Five vehicles were reportedly burnt on Wednesday morning as petrol laden tanker gutted fire around Tunji Alegi filling station, Kwakyama area of Ogere on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The Ogun State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ahmed Umar disclosed this to newsmen in Abeokuta.

Umar, according to statement signed by Superintendent Route Commander Florence Okpe, the Public Education Officer for the sector command, explained that the spill of the petrol affected some vehicles parked by the road side which also got burnt along with the tanker.

“The FRSC Ogun sector command wishes to inform the motoring public on the fire incident along Lagos- Ibadan Expressway which occurred early hour on Wednesday involving a petrol tanker Laden with PMS .

“A total of five vehicles were involved,” he said.

The sector commander said that Fire service Sagamu, and Gateway police station, old tollgate, Ogere had been contacted.

He noted that FRSC Ogere operatives were on ground managing the traffic
situation.

Umar explained that traffic had been diverted to avoid secondary crash.

He advised motorists to remain calm and cooperate with traffic managers.
