Ogun state police command said it has arrested one armed robbery suspect, Bolanle Ojomu while carrying out robbery operation at Ilese Ijebu on October 1st.
Ojomu was said to have been arrested following a distress call received at about 12:30am by the police in Ilese ijebu divisional headquarters of an ongoing armed robbery at Silva Estate, Odolamasa area of Ilese Ijebu in Ijebu North East local government area of Ogun State.
According to statement from the Spokesman of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, upon the distress call, DPO Ilese ijebu Division,CSP Amuda Bolaji was said to have quickly mobilized his patrol team and moved to the scene.
The hoodlums on sighting the policemen were said to have taken to flight immediately, but they were hotly chased and one of them was apprehended with the assistance of members of the community, while others escaped.
Recovered from the arrested suspect was one locally made gun with one live cartridge.
Meanwhile, the acting Commissioner of Police, DCP Abiodun Alamutu has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation.
He also directed a massive manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang with the view of bringing them to justice.
