Gunmen abduct three worshippers during church vigil in Ogun, demand N6m ransom

Gunmen were said to have stormed a Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Ona Ara Parish along Railway station, Obada Oko, via Abeokuta early Sunday morning during a vigil, abducting three members of the church.

The names of the victims were reportedly given as Ifeoluwa Alani-Bello, Adebare Oduntan and Mary Oliyide .

Our Correspondent gathered that the kidnappers had since contacted family members of those abducted demanding for N6m ransom.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the state command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident to Nigerian NewsDirect.

Oyeyemi said "yes it is true, there was a case of kidnapping around Obada Oko and our ant-kidnapping unit together with the police at Obada-Oko Division are already on the trail of the criminals".

While charging members of the public to be security conscious,  the police Spokesman said "you will recall that the police recently warned members of the public from holding religious programme in places of worship that are isolated or in the bush and if they want to do such, they should contact the police so that police could extend their patrol to such area and therefore provide adequate security for the people".
