Abiodun's aide, Shote reiterates government commitment to rural development

Ogun State government has reiterated its commitment to enhance the livelihood of rural dwellers especially the women because they are at the frontline of every home.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Princess Olapeju Shote stated during International Rural Women Day celebration held at Odeda in Odeda Local Government Area of the State.

Princess Shote  said the contributions of rural women cannot be overemphasized because combining duties of a woman with farming  is not an easy task, urging them to always take proper care of their health.

Shote added that the present administration has made all the necessary arrangements to provide seedlings, fertilizer among other farm inputs for rural women in the state to have a hitch free and productive faming session.

Speaking earlier,  the Chairman Odeda Local Government,  Hon. Mrs Afolashade Adejumo, said the present administration is so passionate about  women and will do all that it takes to make life more meaningful for them as they play a vital role in the society.

In her welcome address, the Chairperson Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Ogun State Chapter ,( NAWOJ),Mrs Dupe  Shobunkola said over the years, contributions of rural women had been swept under the carpet, that is why the association collaborated with necessary stakeholders to celebrate the day as their empowerment is crucial to ensure sustainable food security.

Appreciating the State Government and NAWOJ for celebrating the women, Mrs Basirat Fatoki, And Mrs Abosede Amode said they are grateful to the present administration for supporting them saying they can not forget this special day in a hurry.

Highlights of the event was medical outreach, sharing of gifts to the rural women and the needy.
