A sociocultural group, Ijebu Youth Association (IYA) has described the death of Sen Biyi Durojaiye as a monumental loss to the nation, Ogun State and Ijebu land in general. The Afenifere leader and NADECO member died on Monday at 88.
In a statement signed by the National President of the group, Comr Okikiola Fayomi, the youths said they were still trying to recover from the huge shock the death of the youth loving elder stateman sent across the nation and Ijebu land in particular.
The youth group said 'it is with utmost shock that we received the news of the demise of our father, Sen Biyi Durojaiye, an accomplished politician, a highly celebrated economist and lawyer, a first class lover of masses, particularly youth development.
"We are pained that such a committed democrat who almost lost his life during the dark days of Late Gen Abacha while fighting hard for the enthronement of our growing democracy is no more.
"We are however consoled that Sen Biyi Durojaiye who represented Ogun East at the Senate at the return of Nigeria to democracy from 1999-2003 left behind a rich legacy of selfless service and unparalleled love for humanity
"We condole with the family of this departed great Nigerian, the Durojaiye family of Ijebu Igbo as well as all the sons and daughters of Ijebu land over this quantum loss. May the soul of our patriotic father rest in peace".
