2023: Ladoja in a closed door meeting with Bankole at Abeokuta

Barely six days after the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni and two other governors met with some leaders in the southwest , former Governor of Oyo state, Chief Rashidi Ladoja and the father of former speaker ,House of Representatives, Chief Alani Bankole held a closed door meeting in his Abeokuta’s residence .

The two elderstatemen held a marathon meeting which lasted for four hours ending at 5:pm .

It was gathered that the meeting might not be unconnected with the 2023 election .

Ladoja described his visit to Bankole as a usual visit to his brother .

It was reliably gathered that the three governors including Buni had asked some leaders including Ladoja and Bankole to recommend the most acceptable persons in the region for possible consideration .

Speaking after the meeting , Ladoja charged the youths in the country to be politically active in the coming election .

He however said he and Bankole have left partisan politics for the youths in the country .

Speaking on zoning , Ladoja described it as the arrangement of political parties to win elections ,adding that zone in the country has competent people to lead the country .

He urged the youths to take the bull by the horn and present themselves for leadership responsibility in the coming election .

He said ” I came to visit my brother . It was a usual visit . I have quit partisan politics and my brother (Bankole ) had left partisan politics .

“One needs to quit when the ovation is loudest for the young ones.”

” I will advise the youths to present themselves for the leadership positions.

“It is a stupid thought that Nigerian politics has been monetised . What do they spend on posters , vote buying and parties agents?

“If the youths support their candidates who will collect money from them ?

“I told the teachers in Oyo state to present some of them for political positions . They can sponsor them with what they have.”

Ladoja however declined assessing the state of the nation, saying, he was no more a politician .

Bankole also declined comment on the reasons for the closed-door meeting with Ladoja .

A source who is privy to the meeting hinted that the meeting was a follow up to the earlier meetings with Buni and other governors .

The source added that it was to further to strategise on how to actualise Buni-led meeting with South West leaders
