Egbe Tobalase Okunrin renovates toilet facilities for Ogun secondary school.

Egbe Tobalase Okunrin Akile Ijebu has renovated a block of toilets for the use of Omu Ajose Comprehensive High School Omu, in Odogbolu Local Government.

This is just as the Giwa Egbe, (the leader of the group) AbdulAzeez Abiola Alausa disclosed that regberegbe (age-groups) in Ijebuland have gone beyond displaying social affluence noting it was now mandatory for every regberegbe to have a developmental project to showcase in the Awujale palace before the Ileya Festival.

Giwa Abiola Alausa stated this at the commissioning of the block of ultra modern toilet facilities at  the School premises in Omu Ijebu.

He maintained that government alone can not provide all the social amenities needed by the citizens calling on other regberegbes and public spirited individuals to change the narratives for better and continue to give back to the society through life impacting projects.

"We decided to embarked on the toilet renovation to ensure that students are not exposed to cholera and other diseases associated with unhealthy environment.

"The renovation of a block of toilet at Omu Ajose Comprehensive High school was initiated by one of us who attended this school many years ago, Otunba-Balogun Yinka Sadiku and we have to rally round him. This is not our only project, we renovated the Ijebu Ode Central Mosque toilets last year. We are also giving scholarship to students at various levels of education and frequent donation of foods to motherless homes amongst others", Alausa said.

Also speaking at the commissioning, Transition Chairman, Odogbolu Local Government, Hon. Obafemi Onakoya called on clubs and social organisations to make people around them feel their impacts in community development through their Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR).

Hon. Onakoya who described the project as a kind gesture from the age grade, added that
it has continued to contribute to the development of Ijebuland, rebuffing the notion that regberegbe groups are only for social affluence.

"I also belong to Maiyegun Age Grade, We have the project we do for the people in the society, Tobalase Okunrin Akile Ijebu has given back to the society by renovating the school toilet. The government cannot do it alone, hence the need for private organisations, clubs and associations to contribute their quota through Corporate Social Responsibilities", Onakoya disclosed.

He said the renovation of the school toilets would improve the conducive learning environment for the students while he implored the school authority to ensure adequate cleanliness and maintenance of the facility.

In their remarks, the Principal of the Senior School, Mr Adesegun Onabote and the Head Girl of the school, Miss Yakub Himat appreciated the selfless efforts of the age-group saying it would be an avenue for other stakeholders to awake to CSR particularly, in giving back to their alma mater.
