Twin accidents kill two, injure six in Ogun



Twin-accidents that occured  around Abeokuta and Sango-Ota in Ogun state  have  claimed two lives and injured six others .

It was gathered that the two accidents occured on Sunday and involved nine persons  .
The first accident which claimed one lives with six injured occured at Imo Emulu village  in Obafemi-Owode on the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway .

The accident which involved two vehicles, happened at 12:17 pm on Sunday .
The second accident occured at 5:10pm on Sunday  also claimed one life while no one sustained injury .

The Spokesperson for Traffic Compliance an Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed the two accidents .

Akinbiyi explained that the fist accident
which involved Nissan Micra LSR 816 XA and Lexus unregister occured as a result of wrong overtaking .
Akinbiyi said “according to  an eyewitness, it was caused by wrongful overtaking by the driver of the  Lexus car  which resulted in head-on collision with the Micra.

He added that seven.persons were involved , five males and two female adults .

Akinbiyi said  while the six injured persons have been taken to Federal Medical Centre , Idi-Aba and General Hospital, Ijaye, the presumed dead male adult to Idera Hospital .
He added that the driver of Lexus IS 350 has  fled the accident scene.

Speaking on the second accident, Akinbiyi explained that the  fatal accident happened  at Lombardy area  inbound Ota-Idi-Iroko road in Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of the state .

Akinbiyi added that the accident involved  a truck and a motorcycle .
He said ” according to an  eyewitness account, the truck rolled  back on motion as the driver of the truck was trying to maneuver the failed portion of the road and in the process he crushed the motorcyclist at its back to dead  .
 “The accidented truck and the motorcycle have been moved off the road while the dead body taken to state mortuary Ifo.”
