We live in Abeokuta but usually rob around Atan-Ota, two armed robbery suspects tell Ogun police

Two armed robbery suspects, Rasheed Ayinde aged 20 and 33-yr old Mathew Oladipupo have told men of Ogun State police command that though, they reside at Abeokuta, the state capital but they usually travel down to Atan-Ota in Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of the state to carry out their robbery acts.

Açcording to statement from the Spokesman of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi on Thursday, Rasheed Ayinde and Matthew Oladipupo were arrested on Tuesday, 4th of May 2021 at about 9:30 p.m while going for robbery.

The duo were said to have been arrested when the DPO Onipanu Division, CSP Bamidele Job who was on routine patrol of his area with his men sighted the two suspects on a motorcycle. 

On sighting the policemen, the suspects were said to have made an attempt to make a "U" turn, but were stopped by the team who suspected their movements. A search was there and then conducted on them and one locally made pistol and one live cartridge as well as assorted charms were recovered from them. 

On interrogation, Rasheed and Matthew were said to have allegedly confessed been on their way to carry out robbery operation. The duo claimed to be living in Abeokuta, but they used to operate in Onipanu and Atan ota area. 

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun has ordered the transfer of the suspects to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation.
