World Health Day: We remain committed to qualitative healthcare for all-Dr Coker

The Ogun State Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all residents in the nooks and crannies of the State have access to qualitative and affordable healthcare services.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, who gave this assurance while fielding questions from newsmen in Abeokuta on the occasion of the 2021 World Health Day, said one of the goals of the present administration is to achieve universal health coverage.

Speaking on the theme for the 2021 World Health Day, "Building a fairer, healthier world", which is  commemorated every April 7,  Coker said building a fairer, healthier world for everyone regardless of age, religion, and gender is integral of Prince Dapo Abiodun's Building Our Future Together Agenda.

She said no society can have sustainable development without good health.

Dr Coker said the state government has embarked on Universal Health Coverage through health financing by kick-starting its Basic Healthcare Provision Fund for the vulnerable across the 20 Local Government Areas, adding that plans are in top gear for the launch of the Health Insurance Scheme for both formal and informal sectors.

The Commissioner said the Dapo Abiodun-led administration has demonstrated its commitment to healthcare for all through the renovation and equipping of primary health centers across the state, provision of 24-hour Ambulance services and massive investment in secondary and tertiary health facilities.

She advised residents of the State to develop a proactive disposition to their health by going for  regular medical checkups and utilization of the services at the government health facilities closest to them.
