A socio-cultural group, Ago Iwoye Progressive Movement has sent their protest letter to Gov Dapo Abiodun claiming that the university town has not been fairly treated with the various political appointments made so far by the governor.
The group in a statement signed by its Chairman, Chief Taiwo Adewale, copies of which were made available to journalists in Abeokuta on Friday said that it was so painful to note that Gov Dapo Abiodun who majority of the residents of the community supported and voted for has not deemed it fit to ensure that they are well represented in his government.
Adewale said that while the community was savouring the joy of having the office of the Deputy Speaker filled up by Hon Kadiri popularly called Maba, his unpopular impeachment in February had also robbed Ago Iwoye community of this coveted seat in government .
The group said "all we are saying is that Ago Iwoye in Ijebu North local government area of the state deserve better deal from Gov Abiodun than this, we have been truly shortchanged when it comes to distribution of political offices and other appointments, we have truly not been giving sense of belonging and this we felt is not good at all given our support and commitment towards the success of Gov Dapo Abiodun's administration.
"We were initially comforted with the emergence of one of us, Hon Kadiri as the Deputy Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly but now that he has been sacrificed on the altar of politics, what else for us? It's our strong view that Ago Iwoye being very pivotal in the politics of Ogun State should be handsomely compensated for this great loss.
"It's equally good to state that Ago Iwoye has several competent, gifted and brilliant minds who will not only add values to the government of Prince Dapo Abiodun but also bring about a lot of innovations into the building our future together agenda just as the governor had been championing since assumption of office in May 2019".
