Ijebu youths applaud Gov Abiodun over huge investment in security

The national leadership of Ijebu Youths Association (IYA) has lauded the committed interest of Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun in ensuring security of lives and properties across the state.

The youth group has also cautioned any section of the state from playing politics with the challenges of insecurity which is not only peculiar to the state saying that "what matters most now is for all of us to combine forces with the government of Prince Dapo Abiodun to drive away people with criminal tendencies out of the state".

This was contained in a statement signed by the National President of the youth group, Comr. Wasiu Okikiola Fayomi while reacting to purported threat of Yewa North Patriotic Forum to pass vote of no confidence on Gov Abiodun for doing so little to combat insecurity in the state.

Comr. Fayomi in the statement said, "it is an obvious truth that the problem of insecurity is a national challenge and thankfully, Gov Dapo Abiodun has not been sleeping on duty because being a very successful entrepreneur, he knew that no investor will invest where it is not safe.

"It is against this background that one of the first moves of his government was the strengthening of the security architecture of the state with the distribution of over 100 patrol vehicles and 200 motorcycles armed with sophisticated communication gadgets to the security agencies in the state. The governor had earlier launched the State Security Trust Fund to ensure that there are resources to always make the security of the state water-tight''.

"I also remembered that as part of the deep commitment of Gov Abiodun towards protection of lives and properties, there was a time he brought in the police helicopter into the state to smoke out some kidnappers".

"Aside this, with the recurring farmers-herders clashes, he did not only initiated peace talks attended by all the stakeholders including four northern governors of Kano, Niger, Zamafara and Yobe States as well as Gov Akeredolu of Ondo but also set up Special Task Force deployed to Yewa area of the state to safeguard lives of the people.

"Just last week, the governor inaugurated the much talked about Amotekun Corps and they were given both operational vehicles and motorcycles all in a bid to give bite to the community policing project and make the state so inhabitable for criminal minded persons. A governor who has done all these couldn't have been said to careless about securing his people".

"Crime is known to be dynamic and that is why even in developed countries where everything has been put in place, where the system seems to be working, people still commit crime, so, the isolated cases in the state does not warrant a group threatening to pass vote of no confidence on the governor or making it seems like the governor is less concerned with the security of his highly cherished people wherever they are in the country".

"More than anything, Gov Dapo Abiodun no doubt deserved commendation for his huge investment in securing the state and he will certainly do more with the support and cooperation of all".
