It was a season of accolades and encomium last week Thursday when national leadership of the Women Parliament Forum of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) decided to honour one of them, a resilient and very consistent leader of the opposition party in Ogun State, Princess (Dr) Ojaronke Ogunremi as its grandmatron.
In attendance at the glamorous decoration held at Princess Ojaronke Ogunremi's residence within GRA, Ibara Abeokuta were the National Coordinator of the women group, Mrs Yetunde Odubote, Mrs Omolara Popoola, the National Secretary, Mrs Funke Sobande, the State Coordinator of the group, Ogun PDP Women leader, Mrs Remilekun Olusoji.
Others are Ogun Central Senatorial district Women leader, Mrs Yinka Ogunlade, the General Secretary, Lado Ladies of Integrity, Beere Mujidat Ayodele-Balogun among other PDP bigwigs across Ogun State.
Speaking at the ceremony, the National Coordinator of the group, Mrs Yetunde Odubote described Princess Ojaronke Ogunremi as a very successful entrepreneur and woman politician of reputable character whose stocks in trade has always been selfless leadership.
Mrs Odubote said "we heartily want to commend Mama Ogunremi for her loyalty, dedication and committed interest to strengthening PDP nationwide as well as her consistency in pushing for what is best for the women in politics.
"We salute her generosity and unrepentant commitment to empowering the women and it is all of these outstanding qualities that made us concluded that, yes, she is naturally fit to be our grandmatron. It is our prayers that the almighty God will continue to strengthen her so that she can do more for humanity".
Speaking in the same vein, the National Secretary of the group, Mrs Omolara Popoola also described the erstwhile General Manager of Eko Hotels and the defunct Gateway Hotels, Princess Ojaronke Ogunremi as symbol of excellence when it comes to women in politics in Nigeria saying that the Ogun PDP leader is always a reference point when it comes to women in politics pushing for the betterment of the country.
She added that "it is on this wise that we have decided to pick you out among the crowd and decorate you with this fitting honour knowing fully well that you will always be there to support the cause of the women not only in PDP but also across the country".
Responding to the befitting honour, Princess Ojaronke Ogunremi thanked the women group for finding her worthy of the honour pledging to continue to use her God's given resources to promote women empowerment.
Ogunremi said " As far as I am concerned, the essence of being in politics is to serve and make life better for all. I remain an Apostle of women empowerment and poverty eradication and that is why wherever I find myself, I won't be tired of pushing for better life for the women, so, I thank you for this honour once again and I urge you all to remain united, let's keep working to make our great party formidable so that we can return to winning ways by 2023".
