We’re working to rule Nigeria for at least 32 years – APC

The Chairman of the Caretaker/ Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the All-Progressives Congress,  Mai Mala Buni, has said the party is working towards retaining power for at least 32 years.

Buni said this while inaugurating the party’s 61-member Contact and Strategy Committee at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to him, the party needs to be in power to consolidate on the delivery the dividends of democracy.

He noted that the party under his leadership had achieved a lot. Buni, the governor of Yobe State, said, “The constitution of the Strategy and Contact Committee, therefore, is to consolidate the achievements we are making in building a strong party with a solid structure that would accomplish APC to stand the test of time.

“Our vision is to provide a wheel that will drive the party to go beyond 6th, 7th and even 8th terms of office to effectively implement the party manifesto, improve the lives of Nigerians and to remain Nigeria’s leading political party.

“This committee is therefore very key to our process of transition  towards successful congresses and national convention and to establish a very solid, reputable and reliable future for the party.”

The high-powered committee is to be chaired by the Jigawa State governor, Badaru Abubakar.
In response, Badaru pledged that the committee would take the necessary steps to achieve its objectives.

Badaru explained that because of the successes recorded by the Buni-led caretaker committee, the APC had so far registered and revalidated the membership of about 36 million members across the country.

Nigerians can’t wait to kick you out, says PDP

In his reaction, the National Publicity Secretary of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Kola Ologbodiyan, however, said Nigerians would scuttle the ambition of the rulling party.

Ologbodiyan stated, “Nigerians can’t wait for 2023 to chase this thieving gang out of power. No Nigerian, except the very few who are benefiting from the ongoing institutional corruption, will pray for this regime to stay one day longer than 2023.”
